Therapy for Parents & Caregivers of Loved Ones

with Disabilities, Chronic Illnesses & Complex Needs

Caring for someone you love can change nearly every part of your life. Whether you are parenting a child or adult with a disability or caring for someone with a chronic medical condition, much of your time may be spent managing appointments, advocating, making decisions, worrying about the future, and making sure everyone else is okay.

But who is taking care of you?
You can love your family deeply and still feel exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, or guilty for needing a break. Maybe you’re always expected to be the strong one, or caregiving has become such a big part of your life that you’ve started wondering, “Who am I outside of taking care of everyone else?”

Caregiving can hold love, purpose, worry, grief, exhaustion, and hope—all at the same time. You don’t have to minimize how hard it can be simply because you love the person you’re caring for. I can support you in managing anxiety and overwhelm, making space for your own needs, setting healthier boundaries, and reconnecting with yourself. Together, we can explore how caregiving has affected your relationships, identity, and the life you imagined for yourself.

You spend so much time being strong for everyone else. Therapy can be a place where you don’t always have to be the strong one.

I bring more than 15 years of social work experience supporting children, adults, and families, including extensive experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs and the families who care for them.

My Approach
My goal is to provide a warm, supportive space where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing—even the things that are hard to say out loud. Therapy isn’t about simply telling you to “practice self-care.” Together, we’ll explore what you need and identify realistic changes that can help you feel more supported and connected to yourself. My approach is:

Person Centered, Strengths-based, and Culturally Responsive
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Solution-Focused Therapy
Mindfulness-based Strategies

Therapy is collaborative, educational, and grounded in both evidence-based treatment and cultural humility. I can help you:

Manage anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
Cope with the demands and uncertainty of caregiving
Reduce guilt around having needs of your own
Develop healthier boundaries and ask for support
Adjust to changes following a loved one’s diagnosis
Reconnect with your identity outside of caregiving
Build realistic coping strategies that fit your life

I provide therapy in English and Spanish and welcome the opportunity to explore how family, culture, expectations, and personal values may influence the way you experience caregiving and your ability to prioritize yourself.
